The force of acceleration can cause the front wheels to lift which prompts racers to back off the throttle and place more of their body weight over the front end, resulting in loss of traction at the rear. Quadshot locks suspension in place making it difficult to wheelie and thus allows the rider to transfer more weight over the rear wheels to find that vital grip. The rider needs to simply push down on the front bumper and lock the rods in place to keep the front end down then, during normal suspension travel, the rods will unlock and swing safely out of the way to allow the suspension to do its job under normal race conditions.
